About Shohreh Kia DVD presentation:
"I dedicate this collection of my embroideries called "Beyond Confines" to the awakened souls. These works are woven by my heart and inspired by my soul. I did these works during the years of 1981-1987 in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran, captured as a political prisoner.
My endeavour here is to show how I visualized my hopes and dreams in the context of art while I was under pressure of violence and dictatorship. By doing these works I became able to fly my wings over the tall walls of the prison cause a one who dreams of human equality and freedom stays hopeful and chooses to defend himself in various ways."
