In 1988, thousands of political prisoners were brutally murdered by the Iranian government in what has come to be known as "the 1988 Iran massacre".  It was the climax of a decade of mass executions in Iran.

The summer of 1988 massacre started right after Ayatollah Khoneini's “Fatwa”, his secret order to execute all political prisoners, those who the Islamic Republic of Iran called “moharebs” (those who war against God) and as “mortads“ (apostates from Islam).

The government executed thousands of political prisoners of every age, gender, and ideology and never provided any information on how they were killed. Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran pretends that these executions never existed.

The killings have been called “an act of violence unprecedented in Iranian history”, unprecedented in form, content, and intensity. These executions constitutes a crime against humanity under international law.

The international community still knows very little about this genocide, western media produced very little news or article about this incredible massacre. For that, in order not to forget what has happen and is happening to us, in order to learn more what has happened and is happening in Iran, on spring of 2008, we create “Commemorative for 1980’s Massacre of Iranian Political Prisoners” web-site for the 20th anniversary of 1988 massacre to remember those who lost their life during 1980s and three decade’s of atrocities and massacre in Iran since 1979 revolution.

It is our goal to gather documents, articles, memories, books, films and art-works related to political prisoners massacre in Iran to be published on this web-site.  For that we appreciate receiving documents and information from you and also we are looking forward for your comments and thoughts.
