"It Must Not Happen Again!"
This exhibit presented a collection of paintings and handcrafts from artists during their years of imprisonment as political prisoners.They survived to tell their story and the stories of others who are not here with us today. In this exhibition, were presented work from five artists from Iran and Mexico.
Featuring Soudabeh Ardavan (Sweden), Shohreh Kia (Canada) and Jacobo Silva Nogales (Mexico). Their profile, as well as a presentation of their work can be found in the site in the Visual Art section of the Art menu.
The Exhibit also featured two unnamed artists from Iran: "This collection of paintings belongs to two Iranian women who
were political prisoners in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Their identity cannot be revealed because the persecution of the Islamic state extends beyond the prison. The paintings depict the struggle of these women inside the prison as well as the larger social prison which the Islamic regime has created for women."
